France and Canada pledge to boost bilateral cooperation

France and Canada pledged today to strengthen their bilateral relations and broaden areas of cooperation to address escalating geopolitical challenges and the consequences of climate change.

The announcement came during a visit by French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to the Saint Pierre and Miquelon archipelago.

Prime Minister Trudeau emphasized that both countries face mounting challenges, including the effects of climate change, declining democratic standards, and new threats to sovereignty.

For his part, President Macron stated that the two sides had agreed to deepen cooperation in several fields, including space, climate, and energy.
