Iran condemns new US sanctions, holds Washington fully responsible

Iran’s foreign ministry has condemned the US administration’s announcement of sweeping new sanctions against Tehran, saying it demonstrates what it called the United States’ “arrogant nature and disregard for international law.”

The ministry said the measures reflect Washington’s inability and failure to achieve its objectives in recent confrontations.

In its statement, Iran described the US sanctions as “economic terrorism and a crime against humanity,” insisting that those responsible would be punished. It added that financial pressure and economic restrictions would not deter Tehran from defending its independence and national sovereignty.

The foreign ministry warned that the policy of sanctions has already proven a complete failure, and repeating it would only lead to further setbacks. It held the US administration, as well as the policymakers and executors of these plans, fully responsible for any consequences.
