Yemeni official: Houthis distort facts to conceal losses, maintain image

Yemeni Deputy Minister of Information Fayadh Al-Numan said the Houthi militia seeks to distort facts and figures to achieve two goals: concealing its losses in personnel and military equipment, and maintaining the narrative that it is an unbeatable force capable of mobilization.

In an interview with Al Hadath, Al-Numan added that the situation has changed compared to the past, as the militia's media campaigns now expose their own actions. He noted that Houthi-affiliated media outlets publish daily reports on funeral processions without specifying where or on which fronts the fighters were killed, thereby misleading even themselves.

He continued that decisive responses by the Yemeni armed forces have weakened the Houthis, who during years of truce developed drones and ballistic missiles, and have also abducted children and students to force them into combat. Al-Numan stressed that the Houthis are carrying out a 'functional role' under instructions from Iran.
