Zelensky warns Russia planning major new offensive against Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Russia is preparing to launch another major offensive against his country, citing intelligence indicating that Moscow is getting ready for a large-scale new attack on Ukraine.

Zelensky, according to Reuters, added that there can be no discussion of easing sanctions on Russia "while Ukrainians live every day under the threat of missile and drone attacks."

The comments came during Zelensky's visit to New York for United Nations meetings, where he discussed efforts to end the war with US President Donald Trump, including the possibility of reaching an agreement on a ceasefire covering energy-related targets.

Russian forces have long carried out large-scale nighttime attacks using drones and missiles, but in recent weeks they have changed tactics, launching a continuous barrage of attacks throughout the day.

In recent months, Moscow has deployed jet-powered drones capable of flying at higher altitudes and evading air defenses, causing greater disruption to businesses, government services, and daily life than before, amid a war that has now lasted four and a half years.
