Morocco holds parliamentary elections as 15 million voters head to polls

Around 15 million registered Moroccan voters are heading to the polls today, Wednesday, to elect members of the new House of Representatives, which comprises 395 seats and serves a five-year term.

A total of 27 political parties are contesting these seats, fielding 7,288 candidates—an average of more than 18 candidates per seat.

In constituencies where seats are reserved exclusively for women, 1,783 female candidates are competing for the 90 seats allocated to them by law.
