Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it had targeted a US airbase and central command center in Jordan with ballistic missiles.

In a statement, the IRGC's Aerospace Force said: "In response to the aggressive actions of the US military, which kills children, IRGC Aerospace fighters targeted a US airbase and central command center in Jordan with several ballistic missiles a few hours ago."

The IRGC added that as long as threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran continue, and as long as illegal and hostile actions by US forces against Iranian interests persist, resistance will continue.

The statement concluded by stressing "the need for US officials to halt threats and illegal interventions against Iranian interests."

Earlier, the US military reported it had intercepted several ballistic missiles launched by Iran toward US forces in the Middle East, describing it as a "surprise attack attempt" by Tehran.

US Central Command confirmed that all Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted and that American forces remain on high alert.
