Italy records hottest summer since 1950

Italy has experienced its hottest summer since 1950, with average temperatures reaching 24.3°C, according to the National Research Council.

Data from the council’s Institute of Bioeconomy showed August was particularly warm, with an average temperature of 25.6°C.

These figures are based on readings taken two meters above ground level.

Italy faced several heatwaves over the summer, with temperatures soaring in major cities. The Ministry of Health repeatedly issued maximum-level heat warnings, cautioning that even healthy individuals could face health risks due to the extreme conditions.
