Unvaccinated students will be considered absent: Saudi education minister

Minister of Education Dr. Hamad Al-Sheikh welcomed the return of male and female teachers to schools on Sunday.

Al-Sheikh pointed out that students who are above 12 must receive two doses of COVID-19 vaccine to attend educational facilities; and those who have not completed the two-dose vaccination will be considered absent until they are vaccinated with both the doses.

Al-Sheikh said; in a meeting on Saturday with education directors in the regions; that managing the educational process in light of the pandemic is not easy; but in education we are familiar with turning challenges into opportunities for change and development.

He stressed that everyone's responsibility is to continue the educational journey for male and female students while ensuring their safety and health inside the school and apply all the precautionary measures.

The minister said that the responsibility of following up on implementing the approved operational models and precautionary measures relies on the director of education in the region.

Al-Sheikh pointed out that students who are above 12 must receive two doses of COVID-19 vaccine to attend educational facilities; and also be as present.

He called on all students; their parents; and teachers to take the vaccine.

The minister directed education directors to conduct field visits to schools during this week to determine its readiness in terms of maintenance; the availability of sterilization tools and the application of precautionary measures.
