UN Approves Four Resolutions by Saudi Arabia on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice

The United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice has concluded its 28th session here and unanimously approved the resolutions co-submitted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with other countries.

It included counteringchild sexual exploitation and sexual abuse online, providing technicalassistance for implementing international agreements and protocols related tocounter-terrorism, promoting technical assistance and capacity-building tostrengthen national measures and international cooperation to combatcybercrime, and the preparations for the Fourteenth United Nations Congress onCrime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

In the closing session, the head of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia delegation, Advisor at the Ministry of Interior and Director General of Legal Affairs and International Cooperation in the Ministry, Dr. Abdullah bin Fakhri Al-Ansari delivered a speech in which he affirmed that terrorism is a major threat to the international peace and security and undermines the fundamental values of the United Nations.

He alsocalled for providing technical assistance in the field of capacity-building andprevention, and increasing the international cooperation and awareness tocombat cybercrime, affirming the importance of enhancing the internationalcooperation to track down criminals by criminalizing the possession,distribution and production of child sexual abuse materials.
