Kuwait football team risks bottom spot in Gulf Cup group, says analyst

Sports analyst Saud Al-Sarami has criticized the performance of the Kuwait national football team in the opening round of the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup, saying the side—once a powerhouse in Gulf and Arab football—now risks finishing at the bottom of its group due to weak displays.

Speaking in an interview with Al Arabiya FM, Al-Sarami recalled that Kuwait was a dominant force in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, but argued that the current approach to sports in Kuwait does not focus on building teams capable of competing at the required level.

He added that Kuwait looked lackluster in its most recent match, noting that the game was one-sided and the Kuwaiti goal was under constant threat.

Al-Sarami concluded by saying that if Kuwait continues to perform at this level, he expects the team to finish last in its group.
