Saudi Vision 2030 aligns with the G20 priorities

The Group of Twenty (G20) Leaders' Summit 2021 convenes in October 2021 in Rome Italy. For 2021, the G20, under the Italian Presidency, will focus on three broad, interconnected pillars of action: People, Planet, Prosperity.

Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz had handed over the flag of the "G20" group to Italy last Nov.; announcing the end of the year Riyadh hosted the group's meetings.

The Leaders' Summit is the climax of the G20 process. In addition to the Summit, ministerial meetings, Sherpa meetings (in charge of carrying out negotiations and building consensus among Leaders), working groups and special events are organised throughout the year. The Summit is the final stage, at Leaders' level, of the intense work carried out within these various groups throughout the year.

Saudi Vision 2030 aligns with the G20's priorities, including achieving macroeconomic stability; sustainable development; empowering women; enhancing human capital; as well as increasing the flow of trade and investment.

"The G20 summit, hosted by Riyadh in November 2020 is a historical summit; on the international level and the first of its kind in the Arab world; where the G20 member countries represent two-thirds of the world's population; 85 percent of the global economy and 75 percent of the world's trade," Al-Rajhi also said.

Saudi Arabia's hosting of the G20 Leaders Summit also confirmed the Kingdom's pivotal role, and the Saudi economy's role in global stability.

The civil society communication group achieved record numbers in the history of the G20, while Saudi Arabia confirmed that it is a major hub in the region and the world.

For her part, Princess Nouf bint Muhammad bin Abdullah; Chairwoman of the Civil Society Communication Group (C20) and CEO of the King Khalid Foundation; also confirmed that the group, under the presidency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, achieved a number of records for the first time in the history of the Group of Twenty (G20).

She continued, such as expanding the number of members to more than 1,500 members from 80 countries around the world; and increasing the number of working groups to 11 specialized groups; mimicing their counterpart in the government track of the Group of Twenty.

Also added: The group also hosted the largest global gathering of civil society in the history of the Group of Twenty; through the virtual civil society summit; attended by 40,000 participants from 109 countries around the world.

She also said, "The King Khalid Foundation succeeded this year in creating consensus; within the group and crowning its negotiating efforts unanimously; by adopting a package of proposed policies directed to the decision-makers of the G20 countries. In addition to the group's final statement."
