Saudi Letter to UNSC Urges Deterring Houthi Threats

Saudi Arabia filed acomplaint at the United Nations Security Council against Houthis.The Kingdom asked the UNSC to "carry out its responsibility"in preventing Iran-backed Houthi militias from increasing regional andinternational tension.

Saudi Arabia also stressedthat it reserves the right to take "all necessary measures" toprotect its territory and citizens in the wake of the recent Houthi terroristattack that targeted civilians and civilian facilities in the Kingdom.

Houthi militia had recentlyfired two ballistic missiles targeting Riyadh and Jazan.

In a letter sent to UNChief António Guterres, the Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia tothe United Nations, Abdallah Al-Mouallimi, reported the Houthi ballisticmissile attack which took place on March 28, 2020.

This terrorist attackconstitutes a serious threat to current efforts exerted by the United Nationsin order to reduce tensions in Yemen, particularly in light of difficultcircumstances in which the world is united in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic,Al-Mouallimi said.
