Saudi Grains Organization Completes Procedures to Import 600,000 Tons of Barley

Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) has completed procedures for importing 600,000 tons of barley, representing the third tender for 2020, from the European Union, Australia, the Black Sea, North and South America; except Canada.

Governor of SAGO Eng. Ahmad Abdulaziz Al-Fares stated today that the amount specified in the tender is distributed to 10 shipments; 7 shipments with the amount of 420,000 tons for the Kingdom's ports on the Red Sea, and 3 shipments with the amount of 180,000 tons for the Kingdom's ports on the Arabian Gulf, to be supplied during the period of July -August 2020.

The Governor also said that this tender comes as an extension to the efforts of meeting the local demand and maintaining the strategic reserve of imported barley, adding that the organization has contracted this year to import 2.7 million tons.
