The Saudi-led Arab coalition said on Monday that Saudi air defenses intercepted and downed a ballistic missile; fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen towards the Kingdom.
The projectile was aimed at Jazan in southern Saudi Arabia.
The coalition also said the efficiency of the Saudi defenses have thwarted the Houthis’ futile attempts at attacking the Kingdom.
It also condemned the Houthis’ repeated attempts to attack civilians and civilian locations; stressing it was taking the necessary operational measures to protect civilians and handle any imminent threat.
Organization of Islamic Cooperation Secretary-General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen slammed the Houthis for attempting to attack the Kingdom with a ballistic missile; hailing the coalition for destroying the projectile.
He also expressed the OIC’s support to all the measures taken by the coalition to counter the Houthis’ terrorist practices and its efforts to protect civilians.
The OIC stands by Saudi Arabia in confronting the terrorist crimes committed by the Houthis, he also added.
