The updated list was reduced to 35 materialsthat will not be allowed to enter Saudi Arabia, without a prior permission toimport them from the competent authority.
The list currently in force includes131 chemicals involved in the combination of explosives, which are referred toas "hazardous", as stated in the executive regulation of the ChemicalImport Regulation.
According to the same regulation,the issuance of a permit to import chemicals is limited to the ministries ofinterior, education, health, agriculture, water and electricity, according toan organization specified in the regulation.
With regard to the materialsinvolved in the combination of explosives, the body responsible for carryingout the activity shall refer the import application it has approved to the Ministryof Interior for a decision within a maximum period of 10 days from the date ofreceipt of the transaction.
The Saudi Customs said in a letterto the Council of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, a copy of which obtainedby Ajel, that the goal of updating the list is to reduce and decreasethe availability of these materials.
The list of substances to be enteredonly by the Public Security Directorate following the submission of anapplication to the licensor or beneficiary body includes 35 chemicals, the mostprominent of which are:
