Transport General Authority extends deadline for freight and bus operators to 2027

The Transport General Authority has announced an extension of the regulatory deadlines granted to land transport companies operating in freight and private passenger bus activities until February 27, 2027. The move aims to enable these companies to complete the process of regularizing their status and meeting the requirements of the executive regulations governing these activities.

Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and Chairman of the Authority’s Board, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, issued two decisions regarding the extension. The first covers private passenger bus operators, granting them additional time to add new activity categories to their commercial registrations and align their operations with regulatory requirements under the Land Transport Law and its executive regulations.

The second decision extends the deadlines for heavy freight transport companies, both commercial and non-commercial, to fulfill several requirements, including changing their registration type from "private transport" to "public transport" and issuing operating cards for vehicles. The decision also covers light freight transport companies, allowing them more time to issue "professional driver" cards and regularize their status in line with the relevant executive regulations.

Supporting companies and strengthening regulatory compliance

These extensions provide the affected companies with additional time to complete regulatory procedures and align their operations with land transport regulations, thereby enhancing compliance and ensuring the continued operation of their activities within the approved legal frameworks.
