Saudi Arabia executes man for murder in Al-Baha

The Ministry of Interior announced on Monday the execution of Saeed bin Shada bin Safar Al-Musallami Al-Ghamdi in Al-Baha after he was convicted of murdering Obaid bin Sarhan bin Mufreh Al-Subaie by shooting him, resulting in his death.

According to the ministry’s statement, security authorities apprehended the perpetrator, and investigations led to charges being filed against him for committing the crime.

The ministry added that after the case was referred to the competent court, a verdict was issued confirming the defendant’s guilt and sentencing him to death by retribution. The Supreme Court upheld the ruling after an appeal, and a royal order was issued to carry out the sentence in accordance with Islamic law.

The execution was carried out on Monday, 17 Rabi Al-Akhir 1448 AH, corresponding to September 28, 2026, in Al-Baha.

The Ministry of Interior reiterated the Saudi government’s commitment to maintaining security, upholding justice, and enforcing Islamic law against anyone who attacks others, stressing that those who commit such crimes will face legal punishment.
