Saudi role in supporting Arab parliamentary work tops Cairo meeting

Shoura Council Chairman and President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, will chair the 43rd session of the union’s executive committee tomorrow in Cairo, with representatives from member Arab parliaments and councils in attendance.

In a press statement, Al Sheikh said that Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, attaches great importance to joint Arab action and supports all efforts that strengthen cooperation and coordination among Arab states.

He noted that parliamentary diplomacy plays a vital role in unifying positions, supporting Arab causes, and enhancing security and stability in the region. He stressed the need to build on past achievements and focus efforts on clear priorities and practical programs to boost the union’s regional and international presence.

Al Sheikh added that the executive committee meeting comes at a time that requires greater parliamentary coordination and the development of joint mechanisms to increase effectiveness and strengthen support for Arab interests.

The Shoura Council delegation includes Secretary-General Mohmed Al-Mutairi and council member and executive committee member Abdulaziz Al-Muhanna.
