Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Madinah Region, reviewed the readiness of the education sector to welcome more than 500,000 students in 2,631 schools across Madinah and its governorates for the start of the 1448 academic year.

This came during his meeting with Nasser Al-Abdulkarim, Director General of Education in the region, who presented the administration’s plan for the new school year. The plan includes preparing schools and educational facilities, completing maintenance and equipment works, ensuring the delivery of textbooks, providing teaching staff, and implementing admission and registration procedures to ensure classes begin smoothly from day one.

The meeting also featured an overview of the new general education system, including the establishment of the Education Affairs Council and related regulations, aimed at developing the education system, improving efficiency, and enhancing the quality of outcomes.

Educational projects and specialized programs

The Director General of Education outlined new projects launching this year, including two new school buildings with a total of 60 classrooms, a new kindergarten building with four classrooms, and five new sports halls. Two central secondary schools for boys and girls have also been established, along with updates to 21 special education programs. Additionally, the region announced its first school for talented media students, bringing the number of specialized schools in Madinah to four.

Regarding admissions, 24,600 students have enrolled in first grade so far, and 19,700 children have registered for the third level of kindergarten.

Supporting gifted students and enhancing the learning environment

The Deputy Governor was also briefed on the region’s achievements in identifying and supporting gifted students, as well as the expansion of specialized schools and innovative programs that foster creativity and innovation among students.

For his part, the Director General of Education expressed his appreciation for the Deputy Governor’s support and interest in the education sector, affirming continued efforts to develop the learning environment and expand quality opportunities for students to help build their skills and prepare them for the future.
