Second edition of Zad Al-Ilm initiative launched in Makkah

The Royal Commission for the City of Makkah and the Holy Sites launched the second edition of its community initiative, 'Zad Al-Ilm', yesterday in partnership with the Makkah Region Education Directorate. The event is being held in the Sumo district of Makkah and will run for five days.

This year, the initiative aims to support 10,000 beneficiaries from low-income families as the new academic year begins, with the involvement of 12 partner organizations, including the Ministry of Education. The total number of volunteers participating in the initiative has reached 103.

The products provided to students this year are diverse and reflect modern educational advancements, including tablets and other devices, as well as clothing, school bags, and all necessary school supplies. The first day of the initiative saw a large turnout from beneficiaries.

The Royal Commission praised the significant contributions of the public, private, and non-profit sectors, emphasizing that such collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment to supporting students across all educational stages.

This edition builds on the success of the first initiative, launched last year in partnership with the Gaith Charity Association. It aims to empower students for a strong start to the school year, foster a spirit of giving and social responsibility among volunteers and participating organizations, and promote the concept of social solidarity locally.
