Marib will remain unconquered by Houthis, says Yemeni military commander

The commander of Yemen’s Third Military Region, Major General Mansour Thawabah, has affirmed that Marib province has always resisted and will continue to resist Houthi militia attacks, crediting the steadfastness of its people, tribes, armed forces, security services, and popular resistance.

According to the Yemeni News Agency, General Thawabah stated that Marib today is not the Marib of yesterday; while it once defended itself, it is now on the offensive with its sights set on Sanaa. He stressed that the armed forces will continue their battle until all areas under Houthi control are liberated and state institutions are restored.

The commander also addressed recent Houthi attacks on armed forces positions south of Marib, confirming that the military repelled these assaults and inflicted heavy losses on the Houthis in both personnel and equipment.

He noted that many Houthi fighters’ bodies remain scattered across valleys and battlefields, with the militia abandoning their dead without evacuation or medical aid. He described the Houthis as a “terrorist group without religion or morals, in war or in peace.”

General Thawabah highlighted the armed forces’ victories, capabilities, and combat efficiency, stating that troops in Marib and across other fronts operate under a unified command and joint operations room, following directives from the top leadership.

He praised the coordination between ground and air forces during combat operations and across all military sectors, expressing appreciation for the support and backing of the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia. Thawabah also emphasized ongoing coordination and joint action across all fronts within the theater of operations.

General Thawabah called on tribal men in areas under Houthi control not to send their sons to fight for the militia, warning that doing so would send them “to the slaughter, and they will return as lifeless bodies.”
