Saudi foreign minister attends regional-US meeting at UN General Assembly

Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan participated in a multilateral meeting in New York on Tuesday, at the invitation of US President Donald Trump. The meeting was attended by heads of delegations from the Gulf Cooperation Council states, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey, and was held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly's high-level week.

The discussions focused on recent developments in the Middle East, particularly regional escalation and its impact on the security and stability of the area, as well as challenges related to the safety and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab.

The meeting also reviewed efforts to contain tensions, prevent the expansion of conflict in the region, and strengthen political and diplomatic initiatives to address ongoing crises.
