Makkah Municipality prepares parks and venues for Saudi National Day

Makkah Municipality has completed its field and operational preparations to welcome residents and visitors for Saudi National Day celebrations in Makkah, by readying public parks, gardens, squares, and municipal facilities, as well as equipping sites for upcoming events and festivities.

These efforts are part of a comprehensive plan aimed at raising the readiness of public facilities and providing a safe and organized environment for visitors to parks and celebration venues, enabling families and individuals to enjoy National Day programs in an atmosphere that reflects the significance of the occasion.

The municipality stated that preparations included ensuring the readiness of squares, walkways, entrances and exits, maintaining lighting poles and service facilities, and enhancing public safety measures to help organize visitor movement and improve comfort at event locations.

Sites and municipal facilities have also been decorated with national motifs and elements, giving parks and public squares a festive atmosphere to highlight the joy and celebration of Saudi National Day and enhance Makkah’s visual appeal during the occasion.

Comprehensive services and maintenance

Field teams have carried out maintenance and upgrades for parks and gardens, including caring for green spaces, pruning trees and shrubs, planting seasonal flowers, maintaining irrigation networks, and improving the quality of walkways and public seating areas. Children’s playgrounds were inspected to ensure their readiness and safety for use.

Makkah’s network of parks and public facilities includes 294 parks covering a total area of 2,039,993 square meters, along with 1,711,910 linear meters of green spaces, walkways, and roadside trees, 83 squares, 184 sports fields, five clubs, 11 walking tracks, 11 decorative fountains, as well as 174,264 trees and 7,069 palm trees distributed across neighborhoods, residential areas, streets, and main thoroughfares.

The parks feature shaded seating areas, service facilities, dedicated children’s play zones, prepared restrooms, parking spaces, pedestrian walkways, seating areas, and organizational barriers, with attention to accessibility and services for all community groups.

Enhanced cleaning and monitoring

The municipality has intensified public cleaning and environmental sanitation by deploying teams and equipment across parks, gardens, squares, and event sites, increasing the number of waste containers, and implementing regular waste collection and transportation plans to maintain cleanliness and the overall appearance of sites throughout the celebrations.

On the monitoring side, the municipality has stepped up field inspections to check the readiness of facilities and services, address observations, and ensure compliance with health and municipal regulations at establishments near celebration venues and public parks, supporting visitor safety and service quality.

Field teams will operate around the clock during the occasion to monitor parks, gardens, and event sites, respond to reports and observations, provide on-site support, and coordinate with relevant authorities to ensure smooth movement and high operational readiness.

Makkah Municipality affirmed its commitment to mobilizing its human, technical, and mechanical resources to ensure the success of Saudi National Day celebrations, deliver municipal services that meet the expectations of residents and visitors, and provide a safe and organized experience for all community members.

The municipality added that preparing celebration venues, parks, and gardens is part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of public facilities and provide suitable recreational and social spaces for residents and visitors, contributing to improved quality of life and showcasing the beauty of the holy city.
