Samta vehicle inspection station opens with four lanes, serving southern Jazan
The new Samta vehicle inspection station aims to boost road safety and streamline services for residents across southern Jazan, with capacity for 400 vehicles daily.
Key Takeaways
AIIn a move aimed at enhancing road safety and improving services for citizens and residents, the new periodic vehicle inspection station in Samta represents a significant addition to Jazan’s technical inspection network, bringing services closer to beneficiaries and reducing the need to travel to Jazan city.
The station was established in response to service needs in southern governorates, providing technical vehicle inspections at a more convenient location for local communities, thereby improving service efficiency and streamlining procedures.
Built on a total area of approximately 11,000 square meters, the facility features four inspection lanes: two for small vehicles, one for trucks and buses, and one for vehicles transporting hazardous materials. It also offers parking for more than 200 vehicles.
The station is equipped with advanced technical systems, including a fully automated inspection system electronically linked to the National Information Center, specialized equipment for testing brakes, lighting, emissions, and undercarriage, as well as surveillance cameras, safety systems, an air-conditioned waiting hall, and an electronic booking system to organize appointments and reduce wait times.
The project took 12 months to complete, covering infrastructure, construction, and technical installations. All work was finished on schedule, after which the station entered its trial operation phase.
Trial operations began on January 14, 2026 (3 Rajab 1447 AH), paving the way for full-scale operations.
The station has a capacity of 300 to 400 vehicles per day, with each lane able to process up to 100 vehicles per shift. This capacity can be increased if a two-shift system is implemented.
A key advantage of the station is its strategic location in Samta, enabling it to serve residents of Samta, Ahad Al Masarha, Al Tuwal, and Al Muwassam. This helps ease pressure on the Jazan city inspection station and eliminates the need for a 70-kilometer journey for many users.
The project is expected to save time and effort for vehicle owners, reduce congestion and waiting times, and play a vital role in detecting technical faults that could impact vehicle safety, thereby reducing risks associated with mechanical issues and enhancing safety for drivers and road users.
Future plans include activating online booking through the periodic inspection app, studying the introduction of evening shifts to boost capacity, and exploring the addition of services such as insurance and supplementary traffic services within the station, in line with approved regulations and procedures.
The Samta vehicle inspection station project reflects a commitment to developing service facilities and expanding their reach across southern Jazan governorates, meeting local needs, supporting road safety goals, and contributing to improved quality of life in the region.
