AIEgyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said ongoing tensions in the Bab Al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea are having an "extremely negative impact" on shipping and Suez Canal revenues.
Speaking to Asharq Bloomberg, Abdelatty responded to a question about possible military support for Saudi Arabia, saying: "Whatever the Kingdom requests, we will of course fulfill," and stressed that Egypt supports Saudi Arabia in every way, without reservations.
The foreign minister also confirmed that the "Mecca Alliance" joint defense agreement—which includes Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey—is "currently under serious review by us."
Abdelatty held a phone call yesterday with Prince Faisal bin Farhan to discuss developments in the Kingdom following recent attacks.
During the call, the Egyptian foreign minister reiterated Egypt’s unequivocal condemnation of these attacks, expressing full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for the Kingdom in facing any threats to its security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s security is an integral part of both Egyptian and Arab national security.
