Saudi customs foil attempt to smuggle over 36,000 amphetamine pills

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at the Haditha border crossing has thwarted an attempt to smuggle 36,773 amphetamine pills, which were discovered hidden inside a bus arriving in the Kingdom through the crossing.

Authority spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi said the narcotic pills were found during customs procedures and inspection using security technologies and sniffer dogs. The pills were concealed in a compartment specially prepared for smuggling beneath the bus.

Al-Harbi added that the authority continues to tighten customs controls on all imports and exports to and from Saudi Arabia, remaining vigilant against smuggling attempts as part of its strategy to enhance community safety and protection, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.

Al-Harbi confirmed that all reports are handled confidentially and financial rewards are offered if the information proves accurate.
