Saudi customs report 1,078 contraband seizures in one week

Saudi customs authorities at land, sea, and air entry points recorded 1,078 contraband seizures last week, as part of ongoing efforts by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) to strengthen security and protect society from various types of prohibited items.

The confiscated items included 107 types of narcotics, such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, Captagon pills, and others, in addition to 402 types of banned substances.

Customs officials also intercepted 2,024 cases involving tobacco and its derivatives, as well as 30 cases related to undeclared cash, and two cases involving weapons and related equipment.

ZATCA affirmed its commitment to maintaining strict customs oversight of Saudi Arabia’s imports and exports in order to ensure public safety, working in continuous cooperation and coordination with all relevant partners.

The authority also called on the public to help combat smuggling and protect both society and the national economy by reporting violations via the security hotline (1910), email ([email protected]), or the international number (009661910). ZATCA stated that it receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law through these channels, assuring that all reports are handled confidentially, and informants may receive a financial reward if their information proves accurate.
