Turkey-Saudi-Pakistan alliance's geography boosts influence, analyst says

Political analyst Firas Radwan Oglu stated that the geographic span of the alliance between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan gives it broad influence.

Speaking in an interview with Al Arabiya FM, Oglu added that the geographic dimension is highly significant, as the alliance brings together countries with vast surroundings and considerable influence. He noted that the agreement allows flexibility for more countries to join the coalition in the future.

He further explained that attacks on Gulf states have reached the point of targeting their economies, since the region is a center of economic power. This, he said, necessitated the formation of a defensive alliance.

Oglu also noted that security and military alliances greatly support economic interests, and that it is in Turkey's interest to "limit occupation" through the Islamic alliance. He said the Palestinian cause and support for its people will be on the agenda, and pointed to the likelihood of many countries joining the alliance in the future.

Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan recently announced the signing of the "Mecca Joint Defense Agreement" during a summit hosted in Mecca at the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
