The UN General Assembly had declared 2019 as the International Year of Indigenous Languages, and UNESCO was entrusted with the responsibility of organizing this year’s activities, which resulted in the establishment of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022-2032.

The UNESCO data indicates that nearly 40% of the 7,000 languages spoken in the world are at risk of extinction, with experts confirming that indigenous languages are weaker than others since their use is confined to a limited scope and communicative functions and that many of these languages are oral languages.
