Saudi Arabia and Pakistan vow to boost cooperation in agriculture, food security

Within the framework of their strong bilateral relations and mutual desire to increase trade exchange in the interest of both countries, Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in agriculture and food security, as well as supporting investment opportunities.

This came during the official visit of Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley to Pakistan, leading a high-level delegation to discuss ways to cooperate in agriculture and food security, improve irrigation and water systems, and support investment opportunities to help grow trade between the two countries.

During the visit, Al-Fadley met with Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The meeting reviewed cooperation in agriculture and food security, explored ways to enhance it, and discussed increasing investments in these sectors to advance the economic partnership and support promising investment opportunities in agriculture and food security.

The minister also attended a presentation of the Saudi-Pakistani strategic plan for agriculture and food, with the participation of the ministers of National Food Security and Research, and Commerce, as well as representatives from provincial governments in Pakistan. He also took part in the Saudi-Pakistani Agriculture Business Meeting, attended by the ministers of Finance and Commerce and private sector representatives, to discuss ways to strengthen investment partnerships in agriculture and food sectors.
