Thunderstorms, hail and strong winds forecast for several regions Wednesday

The National Center for Meteorology has forecast moderate to heavy thunderstorms on Wednesday, with the potential for flash floods and hail showers in parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, and Madinah. There is also a chance of rain-bearing thunderclouds forming over parts of Najran.

The report noted that strong surface winds stirring dust and sand are expected in these regions, as well as in northern parts of the Eastern Province and areas of Tabuk, Riyadh, and Qassim. Fog may also form overnight and in the early morning along coastal areas of the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea.

According to the report, surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to westerly at speeds of 15–35 km/h, and southeasterly to southwesterly at 10–30 km/h, reaching over 50 km/h with thunderclouds. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one and a half meters, exceeding two meters during thunderstorms, with sea conditions varying from slight to moderate, becoming rough with thunderclouds.

In the Arabian Gulf, surface winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly at 10–25 km/h, and northwesterly to northeasterly at 10–30 km/h. Waves will range from half a meter to one and a half meters, with sea conditions slight to moderate.
