HRH Crown Prince Holds Talks with Russian President

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation on Wednesday at Al Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.

HRH the Crown Prince and the Russian president held an extensive meeting in the presence of the delegations of both countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, HRH the Crown Prince delivered a speech, welcoming the Russian president to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. HRH the Crown Prince highlighted the historical and strong relations between the Kingdom and Russia, noting that Russia was the first country to recognize the Kingdom after the establishment of the third Saudi state.

“Today, we share many interests and collaborate on numerous files for the benefit of both Russia and the Kingdom, as well as the Middle East and the world at large,” HRH the Crown Prince said, underscoring the tremendous achievements between the two countries over the past seven years, whether in the energy sector, agriculture, trade, investment, or other sectors.

HRH the Crown Prince praised the coordination and political work between the two countries, which helped alleviate many tensions in the Middle East and contributed to enhancing future political and security coordination, which will bolster the security of the Middle East and the entire world. He also highlighted the present and future opportunities, describing them as significant opportunities that necessitate collective action for the interests of our peoples, the region, and the world.

HRH the Crown Prince reiterated the welcome to the Russian president, stating that he is a special and highly esteemed guest in the Kingdom, both by the government and the people.

President Putin, in turn, delivered a speech expressing his gratitude to HRH the Crown Prince for the invitation to visit the Kingdom, noting the depth of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

President Putin highlighted the achievements and successes between the Kingdom and Russia over the past seven years, expressing his anticipation for meeting HRH the Crown Prince in Moscow.

President Putin noted that the Soviet Union was the first country to recognize the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, highlighting the significant development and qualitative leap in the capabilities of the relationship, and attributing this achievement to the wise leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH the Crown Prince.

The Russian president highlighted the solid cooperation between the two countries in several fields, including in politics and economy, their shared assessment of the recent developments at the international level, extending his thanks to the Crown Prince for the kind invitation.

HRH the Crown Prince and the Russian president also held a bilateral meeting during which they reviewed issues of common concern.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of the National Guard Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, Saudi Ambassador to Russia Abdulrahman Al-Ahmad, and Minister of State, Member of the Cabinet, and National Security Adviser Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban.

From the Russian side, the meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, presidential aides Igor Yevgenyevich Levitin and Maxim Oreshkin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sergei Kozlov, and a several other officials.
