The National Center for Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification has announced the completion of dispersing wild and pastoral seeds suited to the local environment according to the Kingdom’s vegetation regions across Hail. This effort is part of the third season of the initiative to rehabilitate natural rangelands through seed dispersal and rainwater harvesting, coinciding with the National Afforestation Season 2026, launched under the slogan "A Generation Plants... For a Thriving Nation."

The center explained that seed dispersal is an effective method for rehabilitating degraded lands and improving their productivity, using machinery provided by the center to distribute seeds of wild and pastoral plants appropriate for each ecosystem. The selection of local plant species for each area helps preserve the genetic resources of plants and their ability to adapt to local environmental conditions, with sites chosen based on suitable environmental criteria.

The seed dispersal sites in Hail included Abu Namir, Athmar (1), Athmar (2), Al-Uqla, and the SAR railway station in Hail. Key plant species sown included Talh Najdi, Rumth, Shanan, Faras, Dhamran, Raghl, Sheeh, Qaysum, and Sha'ran.

The National Center for Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification works to develop vegetation sites across all regions of the Kingdom, in addition to supervising rangelands, forests, and national parks and investing in them, supporting sustainable development and contributing to the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative.
