Mother and four children die in Jazan house fire, father hospitalized

A mother and four children died after a fire broke out due to an electrical short circuit in Al-Laqiya village, Samtah governorate, in the Jazan region. The father was admitted to intensive care with injuries sustained in the incident.

Mohammed Mohnashi, the children’s uncle, told Al Arabiya TV that he immediately notified Civil Defense and the Red Crescent, who responded promptly to the scene.

Mohnashi explained that the fire started when an overloaded power strip exploded. He suggested the victims were likely asleep at the time and could not call for help because the door was tightly shut.

He added that rescue teams had to break down the door to extinguish the fire and evacuate the victims and injured.
