Arab Parliament condemns Houthi drone attack attempt on Makkah

The Arab Parliament has strongly condemned the attempted terrorist attack by the Houthi militia targeting Makkah with a drone, describing it as a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of the sanctity of Islam’s holiest site and its significance to the Muslim world.

In a statement, Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi said that targeting Makkah goes beyond an assault on the security of Saudi Arabia, constituting an affront to Islamic holy sites and a threat to the safety of pilgrims. He called for a clear and firm international stance against such actions.

Al-Yamahi added that the continued targeting of Saudi territory and civilian sites by the Houthi militia is a violation of international law and humanitarian law. He urged urgent and effective international action to halt these attacks, hold those responsible accountable, and address sources of funding and support to prevent their recurrence and safeguard regional stability.

He also reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, standing with the Kingdom against any threats to its security, sovereignty, territory, and holy sites. He expressed support for all measures taken by Saudi authorities to protect Makkah and ensure the safety of citizens, residents, and pilgrims.
