Indian national executed in Eastern Province for methamphetamine smuggling

The Ministry of Interior on Sunday carried out the execution of Abuti Falil, an Indian national, in the Eastern Province after he was convicted of smuggling methamphetamine into Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, the ministry said security authorities arrested the offender, and investigations led to charges being brought against him. After being referred to the specialized court, he was found guilty and sentenced to death under discretionary punishment. The verdict was upheld by the relevant authorities and a royal order was issued to implement the ruling.

Emphasis on protecting society

The Ministry of Interior stressed the government’s commitment to safeguarding citizens and residents from the dangers of drugs, emphasizing that the harshest penalties will be imposed on drug traffickers and dealers due to the severe harm they cause to individuals and society.

The ministry also warned that anyone involved in drug smuggling or distribution will face the prescribed legal punishment.
