Egypt’s grand mufti condemns attempt to target Makkah

Egypt’s grand mufti, Dr. Nazier Muhammad Ayad, has condemned the attempt to target Makkah, emphasizing that endangering the holy city is deeply distressing due to the sanctity and reverence God has bestowed upon it, as well as its enduring place in the faith and hearts of Muslims. He described Makkah as their qibla, the destination of their hearts, and the city God has made a safe sanctuary.

In a statement issued today, he noted that the security of the holy city, the Two Holy Mosques, and their visitors is a trust that transcends political and geographical considerations. He called on everyone to respect the sanctity of the site and safeguard its security, warning against exposing it or its visitors to any form of danger or intimidation. He added that any harm to this holy city is not just an attack on a place, but an affront to the feelings of Muslims across the world.
