Eastern Province completes development of Alkhobar South Corniche

The Eastern Province Municipality has completed all phases of the Alkhobar South Corniche development project, spanning more than 4,150 meters and covering a total area of over 130,000 square meters. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve public facilities, enhance quality of life, and upgrade the urban and tourism landscape in accordance with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing’s strategies.

This project is among several development programs implemented by the municipality to raise the standard of services and public amenities, and to improve the urban environment in line with regional development and quality of life objectives.

Municipality spokesperson Faisal Al-Zahrani said the upgrades included improving the waterfront, expanding green spaces to over 90,000 square meters while preserving all existing trees, which enhances the Corniche’s appeal and visitor experience. The project also introduced new facilities such as tiered seating with direct sea views, parking areas, interactive plazas, children’s play zones, seating areas, a new fence, and a promenade parallel to the waterfront, providing a comprehensive environment for recreational and sports activities.

Al-Zahrani emphasized that developing the Alkhobar South Corniche is part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to boost the city’s tourism and entertainment offerings and support the Quality of Life Program. He noted that the project expands opportunities for outdoor sports and physical activities, promotes healthy lifestyles, and improves the quality of services and facilities available to the community. Additionally, it strengthens Alkhobar’s position as a tourist destination by offering an integrated waterfront that combines green spaces, sports and leisure facilities, seating areas, and scenic sea views.
