Qatar condemns Houthi attempt to target Makkah, voices support for Saudi Arabia

Qatar has strongly condemned the Houthi group's attempt to target Makkah with a drone, describing any violation of the sanctity of the Holy Mosque as an act of aggression and a grave breach of religious, ethical, and humanitarian red lines.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the attempt to attack Makkah constitutes a blatant provocation to the feelings of more than a billion Muslims worldwide, stressing that the sanctity, security, and safety of holy sites and their visitors must never be threatened or exploited in conflicts.

The ministry added that endangering Makkah and the sacred sites represents a highly dangerous escalation and a disregard for their religious and spiritual significance to all Muslims.

Qatar also expressed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures the Kingdom takes to safeguard its security, territory, Islamic holy sites, and pilgrims.

The Foreign Ministry affirmed its confidence in Saudi Arabia's ability to protect the Two Holy Mosques and confront any threat, reiterating Doha's rejection of attacks on civilians and holy sites, and calling for respect for the sanctity of religious sites and shielding them from the consequences of regional conflicts.
