The Ministry of Commerce has announced that the National Platform for Charitable Work, Ihsan, will be transformed into an independent nonprofit organization named Ihsan Foundation for Charitable Work, following a royal decree. The move aims to enhance charitable activities and improve the efficiency of the nonprofit sector in the Kingdom.

In a post on its X account, the ministry said the transformation represents a significant step that will strengthen governance, sustainability, and trust in the nonprofit sector.

A royal decree was issued to convert the Ihsan platform into an independent nonprofit, the Ihsan Foundation for Charitable Work, with the goal of promoting charitable work and connecting donors with beneficiaries by offering diverse donation opportunities. The foundation will also enable individuals and companies to make donations and, in coordination with government and private entities, contribute to raising the efficiency of the nonprofit sector in Saudi Arabia.

A royal decree also established the Board of Trustees for the Ihsan Foundation for Charitable Work, chaired by Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, with Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi as vice chair. Board membership will last for three years and may be renewed. Other members include Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, the Governor of the General Authority for Awqaf, Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim bin Abdulrahman Al-Ruwaitea, Adeeb bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Zamil, Princess Nouf bint Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Abdulrahman, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen bin Mohammed Al-Khalaf, and Imad bin Abdulqader bin Abdulmohsen Al-Muhaidib.
