Saudi customs report 1,059 contraband seizures in one week

Saudi Arabia’s land, sea, and air customs outlets recorded 1,059 contraband seizures last week, according to the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA), as part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and protect society from various types of prohibited items.

The confiscated items included 70 types of narcotics, such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and Captagon pills, among others, in addition to 328 categories of other banned substances.

Customs officials also intercepted 841 cases involving tobacco and its derivatives, 20 cases related to undeclared cash, and one case involving weapons and related equipment.

ZATCA affirmed its commitment to strict customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports to ensure public safety, working in continuous cooperation and coordination with all relevant authorities.

The authority also called on the public to help combat smuggling and protect both society and the national economy by reporting violations through its dedicated hotline (1910), email ([email protected]), or international number (009661910). ZATCA receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law through these channels, guarantees full confidentiality for informants, and offers a financial reward if the report proves accurate.
