Saudi Arabia today won the chairmanship of the Executive Council of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), as Saudi Arabia's representative and member of the Executive Council Hani Al-Moqbil was elected as the Chairman of the Executive Council of ALECSO from 2021 to 2023 by majority of votes, with the participation of 21 Arab countries.

Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, has extended thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for the great support being provided to the culture sector as well as all endeavors that promote the presence of Saudi Arabia in various fields.

The minister stated that winning the chairmanship of the Executive Council confirms the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's regional and global leadership in developing education, science and culture in order to achieve collective action and strengthen the ties between ALECSO's member states to advance culture, education and science.

For his part, the Chairman of the Executive Council Hani Al-Moqbil has expressed thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH Crown Prince for the kind approval and tremendous support that he received during his candidacy.

The chairman stated that he looks forward to working with council members to contribute to achieving ALECSO's objectives and promoting dialogue and cooperation.

Al-Moqbil has more than 18 years of experience in different entities and is a graduate of Harvard Business School in the field of leadership after completing various executive training programs, including leadership development. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from King Saud University. In July 2020, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques approved nominating Hani Al-Moqbil as representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Executive Council of ALECSO, based on the nomination of the Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science.
