Saudi Arabia registered on Friday a record number of coronavirus cases at 762 in the past 24 hours.

Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammed Abdelali said they detected the new cases various provinces of the Kingdom. They found them at foreign worker housing areas as well as overcrowded districts.

The newest figures take Saudi total virus count to 7,142; including 6,006 active cases as well as 74 patients in intensive case.

Fifty-nine patients have recovered, raising the total to 1,049. Saudi Arabia also reported four new fatalities, raising the tally to 87.

A committee led by the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs is to look after the housing conditions of expat workers. It also acted to curb the spread of the virus, including launching an online portal to build a database of housing alternatives for such workers.
