Saudi Arabia hopes 'new Afghan govt' to be a step in the right direction

Saudi Arabia hoped that the formation of the caretaker government in Afghanistan would be a step in the right direction towards achieving security and stability; rejecting violence and extremism and building a bright future for Afghan.

Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan said in the virtual ministerial meeting on Afghanistan on Wednesday that the Kingdom hopes that the Taliban and all Afghan parties work to maintain peace and security and protect the lives and property of civilians.

The foreign minister expressed his deepest condolences to the people of Afghanistan and the families of the victims who lost their lives in the unfortunate events at Kabul Airport.

He reiterated the Kingdom's stand by the people of Afghanistan during this crucial stage of their history.

Prince Faisal stressed the Kingdom's support for the Afghan people and the future choices they make for their country without any external interference.

"The Kingdom attaches the utmost importance to supporting the ways through which Afghanistan can overcome its current challenges;" Prince Faisal said.
