Saudi Arabia Hailed by UN for Humanitarian Work in Yemen

The United Nations Under-Secretary-General forHumanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mark Lowcock, expresseddeep thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United ArabEmirates for their tangible support for the humanitarian and relief work inYemen by providing $ 1.5 billion at the donor conference last February, as wellas their grant of $ 930 million to the Yemeni people in addition to $ 300million based on their previous pledge in last November.

He also commended their role to facilitate theaccess of aid in the city of Hodeidah, enabling the UN to speed up reliefoperations and meet food needs.

This came during a press conference held todayfollowing a high-level humanitarian meeting between the Kingdom of SaudiArabia, UAE and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of HumanitarianAffairs (OCHA) in the presence of Advisor to the Royal Court, GeneralSupervisor of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr.Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah.
