Saudi Arabia chairs the G20 Summit for a year

  • Saudi Arabia will chair theG20 Summit for a year, which is scheduled to be held in Riyadh next year(2020).

King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz, praised Saudi Arabia's presidency of the G20 Summit, considering it a proof of its key role in the global economy.

Intensive meetings by Minister of Foreign Affairs

Forhis part, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan continuedhis intensive activities on the sidelines of his presidency of the Saudi delegationat the G20 meeting of foreign ministers, currently held in the Japanesecity of Nagoya.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with his Dutch counterpart, Steve Block, according to theForeign Ministry's Twitter account. He also met with EU High Representative forForeign Affairs and Security, Federica Mogherini.

Astatement issued by the Japanese Foreign Ministry said Foreign MinisterToshimitsu Motegi told Prince Faisal that he was happy to meet him for thefirst time and that both sides wanted to strengthen relations.

Motegipraised the Saudi effort to consolidate stability in southern Yemen, especiallyafter the Riyadh agreement.

Crown Prince's speech at conclusion of Osaka Summit

CrownPrince Mohammed bin Salman, during his speech at the conclusion of the G20summit held last June in Osaka, Japan, said that the Kingdom will work alongwith this group to resolve the world's crises.

Inhis speech, the Crown Prince stressed the need to involve women and youth,pointing out that they are central pillars to global development, noting the pressingneed to strengthen international cooperation and coordination, given thecomplex challenges facing the world today.

PrinceMohammed bin Salman said that effectiveness depends on the ability to promoteinternational consensus by consolidating the principle of broad dialogue andbased on the international system based on common principles and interests, pointingout that strengthening confidence in the multilateral trading system dependsessentially on WTO reform Global and work under its umbrella.

Addressing the digital economy's problems

TheCrown Prince confirmed that it is necessary to address the tax issues of thedigital economy, stressing the importance of seeking and working together toreach consensus solutions on them in 2020 to avoid protectionist measures.

TheCrown Prince stated that Saudi Arabia will assume the presidency of the G20Summit in December this year, affirming its determination to continueworking to achieve the desired progress in the Group agenda, and cooperate withall Member States, especially Troika members Japan and Italy, to discuss the pressingissues of the 21st century, promote innovation and preserve land and humanwell-being.

Atthe end of the speech, the Crown Prince welcomed the leaders of the G20 membercountries, and expressed his hope to host them next year in Riyadh.
