Saudi Arabia Approves Conducting International Refereed Clinical Trial for Coronavirus Medication

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) approved conducting international refereed clinical trial for Coronavirus (COVID-19) medication in five hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the title: (An international randomised trial of additional treatments for COVID-19 in hospitalised patients who are all receiving the local standard of care).

The clinical trial aims to obtain reliable data related to the effectiveness and safety of a number of used antivirals that may contribute to the medication of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). These antivirals are: Remdesivir, Chloroquine, Lopinavir with Ritonavir and Interferon ?1b.

The clinical trial is being conducted under the joint auspices of the World Health Organization (WHO) and a number of health entities in the Kingdom, under the supervision of SFDA.
