Saudi Arabia Announces 24-Hour Curfew in Baish Governorate

Saudi Ministry of Interior announced a 24-hour curfew in the Baish governorate of Jazan region. It also banned the entry and exist of citizens from the area.

An official source from the ministry said this is part of the kingdom's efforts to confront the novel coronavirus pandemic. This is also in implementation of the recommendations of competent health authorities; to raise the degree of precautionary and preventive measures to preserve the health and safety of citizens and residents.

He also said several decisions were taken in this regard.

First; the curfew will come into effect in Baish for a period of 24 hours a day as of Tuesday. The ban of entry and exit does not include those excepted from employees of vital sectors in government and private sectors; whose works require continued performance during the ban period according to what stated in the Royal Order No. 45942 dated on 27/07/1441 AH.

Second; Within the narrowest scope, residents are allowed to leave their homes to meet only necessary needs such as health care and food supplies, within neighborhoods in which they reside, during the period from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm every day.

Restricted Vehicle Transportation

Vehicle transportation within the residential neighborhoods is restricted only for one person, in addition to the driver of the vehicle, to reduce contact.

Third: Prohibiting the practice of any commercial activities within the residential neighborhoods, except for health facilities, pharmacies, food supply stores, gas stations, gas stores, banking services, maintenance and operation works, plumbing and electrical and AC technicians, water delivery services, as well as sanitation tanks.

Also, the Ministry of Interior called upon residents stressing that leaving home should be only for adults if needed; to protect children from transmission of infection. It urged them to use digital express delivery services through smart device applications; to request food and medicine needs and other excluded goods and services for delivering to homes.

The Ministry assured the people that these measures taken within the framework of the Kingdom's efforts to preserve public health. They are also to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, and that they are subject to continuous evaluation with relevant health authorities.

It also called on everyone to sense individual responsibilities, follow instructions, and adhere to isolation measures for the public interest.
