Saudi Arabia has affirmed its support for the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights to establish their independent state on the borders of 1967, with Jerusalem (AlQuds) as its capital, according to the internationally recognized principles, and the Arab Peace Initiative.

This came in a speech delivered the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Mouallimi before the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People at the United Nations in New York.

Ambassador Al-Mouallimi highlighted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's most prominent efforts in supporting of the Palestinian cause, including directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on July 7, 2019 to host (1000) pilgrims from the families of Palestinian martyrs to perform the Hajj ritual for the year 1440 AH, within The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Hajj, Umrah and Visit program which is annually carried out by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance.

Al-Mouallimi noted that among the KSA's efforts towards the Palestinian cause were the strong condemnation and denunciation made by the Cabinet in the same month during the session chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, over the demolition carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities of dozens of houses in the area of Wadi Al-Homs in the town of Sur Baher east of Jerusalem, which houses hundreds of Palestinian citizens in addition to its call on the international community to intervene to stop this aggression and dangerous escalation targeting the Palestinian presence and the forced displacement of citizens from the city of Jerusalem and the attempt to change the city's legal character and population structure as contrary to international and humanitarian law and relevant agreements.

Ambassador Al-Mouallimi pointed out that one of the most prominent efforts of the KSA was its call during its participation before the Security Council on July 23 as it was chairing of the Arab Group and on behalf of the Arab countries on the international community and the Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities in providing the necessary protection for the Palestinian people and to put an end to the Israeli aggressions and its systematic violations of Islamic and Christian holy sites, particularly Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Ambassador Abdullah Al-Mouallimi added that KSA has confirmed that there is no justification for the continuation of blatant Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, especially in light of the international consensus on the Palestinians' right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state on the borders of June 1967 with Jerusalem as its capital and there is no justification for the continuation of the conflict in light of the international community's emphasis on achieving a comprehensive peace with Israel based on the Arab peace initiative and the international legitimacy resolutions.
