Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) has completed procedures to import the third shipment of wheat for 2021; with a total amount of 562,000 tons from EU, Black Sea, Australian and North and South American origins.

SAGO Gov. Eng. Ahmad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Fares also said that contracting this shipment is part of meeting the needs of milling companies of wheat and maintaining strategic reserves at safe levels.

He also added that the third shipment is to be delivered between August and September, 2021; through nine vessels, including four that will dock at the Jeddah Islamic Port loaded with 245,000 tons; three ships that will arrive at the Yanbu Commercial Port laden with 190,000 tons; and two vessels at the King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam with 127,000 tons.

Eng. Al-Fares also noted that 23 companies specialized in grain trade called for the tender, 15 of which have applied and the tender was to those with the lowest rates for the required shipments.

Following the contracting of the third shipment for 2021, SAGO has completed contracting a total of 1.2 million tons of wheat since the beginning of the year, while the organization, through eight branches, continues to receive local wheat from farmers till next October, which enhances the amounts of strategic reserves of wheat.
